Interview Tips

1. Plan ahead – Do a little homework! Research the company and the position if possible, as well as the people with whom you will meet at the interview. Review your work experiences. Be ready to support past career accomplishments with specific information toward the company's needs. Have your facts ready.

2. Eye contact – maintain eye contact with your interviewer. Show you want the job with your interest.

3. Be positive – in particular, avoid negative comments about past employers.

4. Relate – Try to relate your answers to the interviewer and his or her company. Focus on achievements relevant to the position.

5. Encourage – Encourage the interviewer to share information about his or her company. Demonstrate your interest. Ask questions that are relevant to the position for which you are interviewing.

Resume Building Tips

1. Keep it short – one page, if possible.

2. Be neat – make sure that you use bullet points when necessary.

3. Be honest about your skills and work experience.

4. Be concise and use action words (developed, handled, organized, created, etc.) and phrases when describing your experience.

5. Ask someone you trust to check over your resume and make sure that they truthfully critique your work.

Also, be sure to list awards and honors you’ve received. Include contact information for three references.
